The next generation of mobile network (NGMN) is a multiple access mode integrated, all-IP based framework, and therefore it possesses the inherent advantages of IP networks such as simplicity, flexibility, robustness etc. However, some new demands from NGMN applications cannot be met by the IP protocol, the most prominent of which is the QoS (Quality of Service) support. Resource reservation is considered as one of the key techniques to solve the QoS problems in the next generation mobile network. In the next generation mobile network, the hybrid and heterogeneous network depicts a prospective scenario of Multimode mobile communication. When there are several interfaces and flows, some new problems should be solved such as how a multi-homed host mobile to choose the best network interfaces for flows simultaneously, how to hand off flows among all interfaces on a mobile node. It is practical significance researching on QoS (Quality of Service) mechanism in the next generation mobile networks. This thesis analyzes the different QoS requirements of various types of applications in next generation mobile networks. First of all, according to the different categories of applications and single-homed host, a resource reservation protocol for Mobile IPv6 is proposed. From the simulation results we can find that this protocol could guarantee QoS (Quality of Service) of the host in mobile network. Secondly, based on the multi-homed host and flow characteristic, the thesis proposes a system framework based multi-homed host, then a network selection algorithm based on weighted Bigraph matching for decision model of the system framework and a flow handoff algorithm based on multi-homed host for handoff Execution model of the system framework are proposed. The simulation results show that the network selection algorithm can guarantee the system satisfaction ratio and the flow handoff algorithm can support the flow seamless handoff between all interfaces on a multi-homed host. Combining the network selection algorithm with the flow handoff algorithm, the QoS of the multi-homed host in mobile environment can be ensured successfully.
