Research And Application Of DirectShow Technology In Video Conference System

Video conference system is a kind of communication network, in which participants of a meeting can transfer words, voice, video or other kinds of data through Internet or Intranet.With the improvement of communication technology, video conference has been applied in many fields, such as economy, politics, education and so on. Most of the existing video conferences can transmit audio frequency and the video data by the Internet. Therefore, the compression of audio frequency and video data has become a main question. How to select a more effective and simple method to compress and encode the audio and video data has already become an important issue.DirectShow is the Microsoft Corporation's product, which is to simplify media processing based on the Windows platform development package, issued together with the DirectX development package. DirectShow has provided the powerful support for the multimedia captures, processing and playbacking, integrated Directsound and the Directdraw technology, and supported DVD directly.What DirectShow provides is a kind of open style development environment. The users can design the module according to their requirements. It is both convenient and economical to solve the compression and encoding of the audio frequence and video data in the video conference system.Firstly, this thesis introduced and analysed the video conference system, in which the author discovered that the quality and clearness of voice and picures in the current video conference is greatly affected by the present ways of the data's compression and the encoding. Hence, the new way of DirectShow technology was put forward to solve the above questions since it is both econocmical and more effective. The thesis mainly dealed with the mixing, compression and encoding of the audio and video data in the video conference based on the DirectShow technology. At the ending part; this method was studied and elaborated on. For instance, it included the design and realization of the method. In order to make the method more clear and convincing, some key codes were added accordingly.
