Wood identification has gone from macroscopic to microcosmic. This kind of method produce application value in practice greatly, it is that but, accuracy differs from comparatively, can distinguish only, genus, species or familiar woods. Microcosmic identification is observing the structure feature of woods under optical microscope or electron microscope to judge or distinguish woods. The accuracy is higher but method is fussy, is not quite suitable in production scene.The identification method of microcosmic identification has fast, accurate and convenient characteristic can increase woods and feature project at any time and do not break away from tradition skill, but which need rich wood knowledge, only wood expert can grasp, is hard to popularize and apply. So we try to distinguish woods only using the features of porous. In this paper, we have studied to apply to the image processing technique based on quantification porous. In which, include image processing and analysis mainly, the operation of gray scale mathematical morphological, pattern recognition etc. Analysing the demarcate algorithm model of quantifying system, so, what we can discover difference woods porous have different quantized interval, according to the characteristic, we can achieve automatic identification of the three kinds of porous arrangements, and discover the ability to realize unitary feature wood identification.
