The technology of IBR is becoming a popular method for image-rendering in virtual environment recent years. The mosaic technology is used for constructing more complex scene by IBR, such as the cylinder and sphere scene. The mosaic of panorama is becoming a basic technology in IBR. This paper combines the principle of camera moving, systematically introduced several projection models of image mosaics.This paper also put forward a new algorithm for image mosaics through analysis to the traditional method. First, the original image was processed before mosaic, and the two overlapped images were transforming into frequency area, and they are computed by phase-correlation. Then the Harris corner point was checked in the overlapped area, then the point was purified by RANSAC, and the accurate data was obtained. Then calculated the transform matrix, at last the image mosaic was finished.This article also put forward another new method for image connection. Combined with the gray-related and area character, and an improved algorithm for image mosaic that based on gray-related is presented in this paper. In order to reduce the calculation cost, first we get the feature blocks in the two overlapped image, then the gray-related values was calculated in the feature area. The experiments show that the method is simple, fast speed, and better robustness. In order to make the image to be smoother in the seam, we adopt the linear method to fuse the two images in the transition.At last, the paper introduced the cylinder and sphere panorama, and the specifics in mosaics are discussed combining with the process of cylinder panorama.
