Image stitching is a technology that can achieve large reduction scene effect without losing high-resolution of images.The technology has always been a focus in the image processing technology research,and it has been widely used in other aspects. With the rapid development of industrial technology, daily traffic conditions has been largely improved,vehicle safety and accident disposal become the focus of new era traffic. Therefore,in this paper, image stitching technology is used for traffic accident investigation to solve the original image acquisition problem of the narrow view field and low image resolution.In this paper, built on the research of the characteristics of traditional detection algorithms to explore a set of complete and practical image stitching algorithm process. After experimental analysis using medians filtering the algorithm for images preprocessing part.In image registration section, an improved Harris corner detection algorithm is used in feature detection section of this article, and then a normalized cross-correlation method(NCC) of the image feature matching is applied.After the matching, mismatching points was purified through RANSAC algorithm.seams are stitched by "fade out" fusion algorithm.By the stitching systems to the success of multiple sets of image stitching the experimental results show that: The stitching algorithm has very strong accuracy and real-time performance and robustness, which can be efficiently applied to traffic accident scene investigation, for subsequent accident treatment provides a more reliable evidence.
