Hotel VoWLAN Site Survey And Layout Design

VoWLAN is one of emerging applications of WLAN. VoIP means IP telephony which tranfers voice signal through data infrastructure network. WLAN means wireless local area network which allows you to connect network without wire. VoWLAN is a combination of VoIP and WLAN, and it enables the VoIP wireless communication ability using existing WLAN; moreover, employees can access voice, E-mail and other network resource anytime anywhere.The hotel is the typical environment of VoWLAN. Room-intensive, special construction materials and decoration materials, application complexity, high-grade security and high quality of service requirements, all of these have become restrictions to the implementation of VoWLAN. It can be said that the successful implementation of the hotel VoWLAN to meet customer demand, is marking the the wireless network technical capacity of contractors to achieve the world leading level.An excellent wireless network design is a necessary condition for the successful implementation of VoWLAN; furthermore Wireless network design has the detailed and comprehensive site survey as a prerequisite. At present most of the first-stage site survey of wireless network projects are backward, and they are using onboard softwares of wireless network cards and a free tool called NetStumbler of which results are very inaccurate, so the wireless network is built failure. In this thesis, we chose Beijing Huamao Hotel as a case, using Airmagnet Surveyor v2.0 survey tools, proposed a hotel wireless network site survey program and the corresponding wireless AP layout design.In the implementation process, in view of the various floor structures and different characteristics of the hotel building, we designed several regional samples of site survey, and conducted the site survey. Combining survey results, customer demands and on-site working situation, we completed the layout design of wireless AP in CAD drawings. After the implementation of the program and works acceptance monthes later, this program was proved to be effective and correct, and was applied to other hotel VoWLAN projects. I as team leader independently completed the site survey program design and wireless AP layout design, and lead the team completed the project implementation.
