The Design Of Next Generation Telecom Network Security Situation Assessment System

Network security situation assessment, which is a new area of information security, is a kind of dynamic assessment technology. Security situation assessment oriented the next generation telecom network (NGN) is also a new area. The design and implememtation of the system will help the assessment of NGN and the risk management of asset, service and the system. It is directly related that whether the operators will monitor all kinds of vunrability and threat effectivly and operate of the whole network successfully. So it's very important to design a good security situation assessment system for the next generation telecom network.Some research about security assessment system of NGN is going on in the national high-tech research development plan (the 863 Program) called "security situation assessment technology and tools oriented next generation telecom network" (Program number: 2006AA01Z448) in State Key Laboratory of Networking and Switching Technology of Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications (BUPT). The main work carried out of this paper is based on this program.The paper first introduces the research background and then gives a more detailed introduction of the points of security situation assessment of the next generation telecom network, and also gives the meaning of the design of the system. The following passage gives the requirement analyse and the whole design of the system and focuses on the risk assessment sub-system. At last, the paper presents a report of the examples of the dynamic forecast moudule experiment.
