With the expansion of mobile communication network and the proliferation of its services, higher requirements were raised to the resource management, system analysis, operation management, and other aspects of network. In order to adapt to the competition and meet the needs of development, the enterprises operation informationization has become an important strategy for the development of mobile communication enterprises.Since the entirely geographically-distributed communication network has been applied, thousands of net nodes have been producing the huge number of data anywhere and anytime. Nevertheless, in the traditional network management system, the statistics is the dominant method to analyze data and the main data carrier. On the visualization, the characteristics of data in geographic distribution have not been presented in the traditional network management system. For the optimization of network, there is no connection between the data which is distributed spatially and represented by the site location and cell bearing and its data of traffic function, losing a huge amount of useful information of neighbor cells and distributing characteristics.Geographic Information System (GIS) is a new and developing technology, in which visualizing data geographically, as an essential means of informationization, has been applied to analyzing the operation of mobile communication gradually. Through the comparative studies of the GIS systems home and abroad and their performance integration, in full consideration of the availability and characteristics of geography of the system, this thesis analyzed the needs of the wireless network optimization to GIS with the support of GIS technology, database technology, and spatial data analysis. In addition, the thesis adopted MapX and its relative module designing and developed a GIS-based supporting system for wireless network optimization. Furthermore, it also presented a detailed explanation of the key solutions and the technical means to solve the problems raised in the designing, like the data acquisition in network management, traffic function inquiry, and statistics coloring analysis.At present, this system has been applied to the daily network optimization in Yunnan Co., Ltd., China Mobile Group, which would provide experience for other network analysis systems.
