Research On End-To-End Performent Measurement Based On Campus Net

With the rapid increasing of the Internet users and the development of network technologies, the scale and complexity of network expands continuously, which calls for higher quality of network service. Thus all the Internet users, managers and Internet Service Provider pay much attention to the performance of network and how it runs on the whole. Network Tomography can get the performance parameter of the given network by measuring the network. And it describes performance of the network by precise and reliable measuring data, and evaluates how the network runs on the whole. Then ascertain the problems in the network, and optimize the performance of the given network accordingly to achieve the demand of network user.This paper firstly describes the challenges facing the development of Network and the vital important meaning of Network measurement, then gives a definition of Network measurement, and analyzes the measuring ways of several kinds and the problems in detail. Tailored to the characteristics of Campus Network, this paper gives an End-to-End passive measuring method which is based on Campus Network. At last, by designing the measuring packet which includes special content by Libnet software packet, and using the Winpcap software packet to capture and identify the measuring data packet in the Net, it make the End-to-End passive measurement work in local campus network, and furthermore compares the actual results of active measurement and passive measurement.
