In traditional scoring system used in infantry light weapons firing exercises the targets are read by soldiers directly. In this kind of scoring system there are some defects in efficiency and safety. And sometimes people can easily cheat in results checking. In this thesis, the author researchs a new project of automatic scoring system fitting firing. This new project can avoid these defects mentioned above. And what's more, it can improve the efficiency and make the scoring process faster and more precise. The researches in automatic scoring system will make great progress in the modernization of army drill.The thesis mainly describes the automatic scoring system design frame which will be used in infantry light weapons firing exercises, including the centre control subsystem, target subsystem and the display subsystem. The centre control subsystem is composed of a personal computer, and a printer. The target subsystem consists of laser and branch control computer. The laser calculates the impacting point and its offset with coordinate orientating algorithm, and the branch control computer accepts the control parameters from personal computer and the data from the laser to display the impacting position and give the results. The display subsystem gives results and offset using LED display device. These subsystems are connected with RS485-communication which makes them convenient to be installed and used. And at the same time the RS485-communication scheme can save resources.The emphasis of thesis is the design of laser and checking impacting point with coordinate orientating algorithm. The laser is composed of several parallel laser beams in the direction of the level and several parallel laser beams in the direction of the vertical plane. According to the using requirement of the system, we should choose the model of the laser instrument and sounder from the respects of wavelength, power, divergent angle, work temperature and etc. The laser frame consists of hollow steel tube, the laser instrument and the sounder are all installed in the hollow steel tube with the method of disorder installed to ensure the distance among the laser beam and prevent the damage of firing. The coordinate orientating algorithm analyses and calculates all kinds of aims in the outline of military training at present, besides it gets the inspection range.With whole process surveillance and control by this automatic scoring system the infantry light weapons firing exercises will become more automatic, accurate, and intuitionistic.
