The internal high-speed interconnection network of High-performance computer systems is the key factor which constraints the overall performance of the system. high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnection and exchange are the most important performance indicators of the system. High-performance parallel computer has always used electrical interconnection switching technology. As electricity interconnection restricts in bandwidth, interconnection density, clock distortion, energy consumption, anti-interference and other respects, as well as optical devices rapidly develop, the research of the technology of optical interconnection and exchange attracts unprecedented attention. At present, the fiber-based and high-speed optical devices interconnection has been successfully applied to high-performance computer systems. To overcome delays of photoelectric conversion, and explore the entire Optical Switching Technology is becoming much more imminent.The paper firstly analyzed the basic principles, implementation methods and critical technologies on the optical wavelength switching, optical burst switching and optical packet switching, and then considering the needs of high-performance computer systems and the results of electrical interconnection network research, analyzed the three optical switching technologies for a comparison. The study shows that the optical packet switching technology can fully satisfy the needs of high-performance computer systems optical switching technology.On the basis of research in optical switching technology, the paper analyzed the working principle, development and trends of the technology on optical switching SOA, VOA and holographic optical device which implements optical switching. Research shows that optical packet switching using SOA device technology is the most potential programs to achieve optical switching in high-performance computer systems.Based on the analysis of Vortex Data optical packet switching model, considering the shortcomings of the complexity of network structure and the low rate of injection , we realized a SOA-based optical packet switching model - SSDB, which describes its working principle and design of the Switching Node.At the end, we modeled, simulated and analyzed the topological structure of SSDB, the working mechanisms and node design using OMNet + + simulation tools. The results showed that the SSDB model has high injection rate and lower network delay.
