Cardiovascular disease has become one of the most dangerous and commondiseases in recent years. Pulse waves with true and high-qualitycharacteristics play a very important role in the calculation and analysisof cardiovascular parameters which are highly depent on for the earlydiagnosis as well as early treatment of such disease. With the developmentof technology, there are many new improvements in the acquisition, processing and description of pulse waves which indicates the combinationof technological science and medicine science.Based on the practical significance of pulse signals, this thesisexpatiates on the formation and physiology meanings of pulse waves, worksout an acquisition and analysis system of pulse signals based on moderndetecting skills. An adaptive detecting method on the pressure stage isproposed to make the acquisition process more standard, objective andautomatic.A detection algorithm based on mathematical morphology is proposedand applied in filtering pulse wave signals. Morphology operation was usedto clarify the signals'peaks and valleys with proper structuring element, thus realizing the elimination of the baseline drift. The characteristicparameters of great medical value were detected automatically moreaccurately and instantly. The pulse waves are analised under MATLAB inthe time domain, especially the parameter K which reflects the changes ofeither peripheral resistance or vascular stiffness. The system of acquiring and analysing pulse waves is of great medicalvalue, proved by experiments that it is easily appliable with goodaccuracy and fast operation.
