Good forest information systems can not be deviated in the forest infomationization course. But most of the systems are a lack of extensibility and portability. The software developing efficiency is poor. Looking back on the process of the software evolution, it's not hard to find that the ultimate goal is to gain a better hierarchical structure which is the key of solution. This these base on model-driven development which is the essence of Model-Driven Architecture (MDA). Business models is the input of the base System Framework which based on the technology of component,XML and the workflow. Then the business models could be ultimately transferred to the aim systems. The key drivers of these system are the business models. First the domain expert or users built the meta-business models after carefully analyzing the characters and then gathering the same model elements during all kinds of forest systems .Then the business models are got by configuring the parameters of the meta-business models according to the real forestry business. The article takes a real project in Liao Ning province as a case. The results show the high efficiency of software developments. Meanwhile business modelings extract the business logic from the business logic implementation which makes it possible for domain experts and users to involve in, thus improve the quality of the software. Because of the fine hierarchical structure——the logic implementation also apart from the basic technique platform, the information system could quickly adjusted and maintained if there is any change with in either business logic or the basic technique platform. Using business modeling to construct information system could also largely enhance the software developing efficiency. Key words: Business Modeling, Model-driven development, GIS...
