The traditional control system to which we introduced the Internet as a data transmission medium is extension and development of the controlling concept based on Fieldbus control. It is the focus research of automatic control theory at present and an important developing direction of control technology in the future. Internet-based remote control built a real tele-control system, and gradually bring about that any person can control the equipment at any time anywhere. This technology which integrates the automatic control theory,computer and network technology, is a cross-disciplinary application.This paper seems the practical application of network technology in the design of control systems as starting point, discusses the design of network control system, and develops an experimental platform called the Internet-based Arm Wrestling Contest Control System. A systematic research on the theory and methods about the Internet-based tele-control system is developed in this paper.This research has focused on the issue of time delay which induced by network in Internet-based control system. The paper indicates that the network-induced delay is the main reason due to control system instability, and analyzes the reason of time delay and its structure. We measure the network-induced delay based on the ICMP protocol and analyze its distribution characters. Since the network-induced delay is inevitable, this paper presents a solution to compensate the lag due to the network-induced delay to avoid deterioration of control system, and it can improve the control system dynamic response performance. As the network-induced delay is uncertain, random, the compensation model is not immutable. In order to improve the accuracy of compensation, We presents an improved compensation method-compensation with time delay predicting online, and introduce the Weighted delay prediction algorithm to forecast the time delay online, this method can improve the control system's overall performance.To further test and improve the control algorithm, we design a practical control platform which based on Internet network, Internet-based Arm Wrestling Contest Control System experiment platform.
