With the popularization of the optical fiber equipment in the lines of telecommunications, electric network, railway network, broadcast television network, the optical fiber failures have become the higher frequent occurrences and thus substantially disturbs telecommunication network. It will be a important problem as to how to provide constant maintenance of the fiber monitoring system, timely detect the broken-down locations and rapidly solve the problems so as to ensure the network regular working. In response to this, fiber monitoring online system rises to the occasion and meets the need of the optical fiber maintenance. but the accuracy of broken-down locations is not enough in nowadays' fiber monitoring system, and take many problems to maintenance. It helps to detect the problem locations in time and increase speed in maintenance to make use of wavelet transform in the fiber monitoring.This paper analyzes the technology of fiber monitoring and broken-down locations, and theoretical analysis show the shortage of the Fourier Transformation and Short-time Fourier Transformation in the broken-down detection of Fiber Monitoring System; Aimed at the key problem of Fiber Monitoring System - accurate judgment of broken-down locations, a new method using the wavelet transform is brought out which can detect and analyze the transient fault signals. The practical problems in the fault detection and fault location using the wavelet transform, such as the wavelet basis function, Decomposition of scale, Noise threshold and the initial data are studied. According to actual data and Curve of test, simulation results show that the wavelet analysis is availability and accurate in the broken-down locations.The paper implements broken-down location in Fiber Online Monitoring System based on wavelet transform and implements analysis of test curve. Finally, The entire system was integrated. According to many tests, the result is availability and accurate.Finally, this paper sums up the process of the developing of the broken-down location and the curve analysis in fiber online monitoring system based on wavelet transform, and points out the defects in it and the room for improvement.
