Imaging process modeling of spaceborne pushbroom infrared imaging sensor was the precondition to optimize system design and evaluate imagery and system performance . Computer simulation is not only optimizing the design of the system, shorting the design period and can save military spending, raise work efficiency. So modeling and simulation of spaceborne pushbroom infrared imaging sensor research has an important significance and wide application potential.With ray tracing and MTF method the imaging process of spaceborne pushbroom infrared imaging sensor was analyzed. Several typical effects resulting from main elements of IRISs such as optics, detector and signal processing circuit were studied and modeled, at the same time, effects of the sensor resulting from satellite vibration (to sensor) were considered. These typical effects on imaging quality were simulated with ray tracing and MTF method. Besides these, two typical over sampling techniques ( supermode sampling and oversample-superposition ) of the spaceborne pushbroom infrared imaging sensor were modeled and simulated. finally, the simulation results were evaluated with commonly used indexes of image evaluation. Good results were obtained from above study.Several highlights were developed in this paper. For example, several different effects of the pushbroom IRIS compared with the staring IRIS were simulated; The establishment of a supermode sampling pushbroom infrared imaging sensor models, and gives the system simulation results; The establishment of a oversample-superposition infrared imaging sensor models and simulation results of the system are given. Finally, the simulation results of systems were statistical analyzed.
