Laser on-line marking is a new-developed technology of laser processing. It has a lot of features, such as high efficiency, untouched to the production line. In our country, it is developing quickly, but still has a long way to go compared with foreign advanced technology.An advanced acoustic-optic modulation diode-laser-pumped Nd:YAG solid-state laser was developed through the analysis of the real marking. The foci length of thermal lens was measured with the method of condition of steady resonator. A dynamic steady plane resonator used for laser marking was designed. A conclusion was educed by the experiences, that in three-direction side-diode-laser-pumped lasers, the time that ultrasonic got through the diameter of the beam of light can be greatly shortened, if pumping parameters were properly chosen, to make the volume of the oscillation beam verge on the volume of basic transverse model of Gauss beam, so that the pulse width became obviously narrow. In addition, if the Q-switch was fixed on the position of the beam waist, the best Q-modulated laser pulse can be hopefully got.The choosing standards of key parameters of the laser and galvanometer were presented to meet the needs of on-line marking. The designs of other parts of the system were particularly explained. Through the analysis of the system and the marking tests on the metal workpieces, the system can meet the needs of on-line marking.
