The human society has been entering a network-centered information era, in which users need access faster, more reliable and functional network services. Future applications will need higher throughput, interaction and security, which requires service platform provide more processing power and higher availability. Therefore, the Internet research community faces a number of challenges at providing a feasible framework and design methodologies for constructing high-performance, highly scalable and highly available network services. How to design a load balance system which is smart enough to deal with the complicate works is also an open problem. The content aware load balance technique for network service addressed in this thesis represents a step towards ameliorating the above problems. To improve load balance system's aptitude, firstly, a content matching algorithm for the keyword searching in the internet packets was investigated and designed. It was proved that this algorithm fits the network load balance application and is easy to be implemented on hardware to improve the performance. Then Linux Virtual Server (LVS) load balance system was selected as a prototype based on the investigating the load balance technology and system. To improve the performance of LVS load balance system and make it work better on the load balance application where the traffic is very heavy, an approach for alleviating the network bottleneck in packets delivery was proposed. The experiment results showed that this approach introduced a linear improvement on network bandwidth. Finally, a content aware load balance system, which had the merit as a high network packets throughput, was implemented base on the content matching algorithm previously designed and improved LVS. The experiment results showed a reasonable high performance in forwarding and stability.
