LCoS is a promising technology for using in micro display by bringing high resolution, high brightness and low cost to customer. Our project will propose a new driving circuit of high-bright colorful LED source applied in LCoS micro-display system for the purpose of resolving the problems of lower contrast, shorter durability, higher power consumption, complex heat structure caused by traditional source. The high-bright LED source can be used in lots of projection systems and high definition TV because of its high contrast, high bright, long durability which will bring a wide market to this optical engine.At first, the structure, optical principle and main stream of high-bright LED were introduced. The micro display technology and LCoS optical engine were studied. The components that make up the system and the merits brought by the new structure were analyzed. The total design project of LED driving circuit was exposed.The principle of several driving method at the point of high-bright LED's performance was analyzed, of which linear driving circuit was designed. The principle of PWM signals adjusting LED bright was analyzed, and the controlling circuit of MCU was designed. A new type of heat pipe radiator was analyzed, and the thermal problem of high-bright LED was solved. The LED driving circuit was controlled with serial communication by developing application program in Visual Basic.At last, the circuit diagram and PCB board of driving circuit were exposed, and the MCU circuit and application program by Visual Basic were carried out. The high-bright LED's current and temperature were tested when working. The results of the experiments showed that LED's max current is 8A, the temperature is controlled below 60oC, which proved our design.
