However, the news writing adopting the traditional inverted pyramid overemphasizes the transmission of information, which results in ignoring the vividness and sense of beauty conveyed by character which the news should carry as story. This thesis puts emphasis on discussion of the characteristics and advantages of story-style news as well as the development course of story-style news at home and abroad. The story-style news enables the news reporting to return to the facts, seeks the readability of news and respects readers' reading experience. It attaches great importance to exploiting the factors of the greatest human interest and feelings, emphasizes the vivid story scenario and rich feelings and consciously puts emphasis on the artistic beauty and style in the course of narration.Starting from the basic principles of narratology, this thesis puts emphasis on its pragmatic guidance applied to the news narration and exploiting the strategies and techniques of news narration. Through the case study of news text, this thesis is aimed to analyze the narrator, the narrative perspective, narrative time, narrative tempo, structure, pattern in news narration as well as their application to news narration. One chapter in this thesis is designed to discuss the narration of news narration and techniques of sense of beauty conveyed by character such as the designing of suspense, visual and detailed narration, essay-like language etc. The discussions provide significant guidance to story-style news writing.
