Research On Multi-Agent System Based Network Congestion Control

Network management is one of the key technologies in network field. Most of the running network management systems adopt the centralized management paradigm, which makes the whole system lack of reliability, scalability and flexibility. Distributed network management provides a good solution for the problem, and represents the newest direction. Multi-agent system has huge advantage in dealing with the distributed problems. So a method based on multi-Agent system for network congestion control is proposed in the paper.The basic method of network management used now is introduced firstly and then its limitation and key problems area analyzed, and then the solution based on intelligent multi-Agent is brought forward because multi-agent system takes full advantage of the distribution and cooperation of Agent to overcome the limitation of the centralized management and make the intelligent Agents self-organize to control network congestion and guarantee the quality of service.A network management system based on intelligent multi-agent is designed and implemented and the system is applied to solve the performance, management for network. It is programmed in Java through JADE platform and can be operated on different network devices.The network congestion problem is investigated in the paper for its importance. The cause is analyzed and a congestion control method based on multi-Agent is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional method. Especially, a new algorithm is brought forward for mixed TCP protocol environment in the paper. The congestion can be controlled fast and locally through the cooperation of local Agent and neighbors, including configuration for TCP protocol to avoid the deterioration.A simulation experiment-environment is set up to validate the congestion method.
