The battle environment of the future will be very complex filling with all kinds of information. But the system of command post nowadays still involves the layer of operators between commanders and information system. Commanders can not interact with information without obstacle, and must waste a lot of energy in the process of input and output. This kind of interaction is far from satisfying the need in future battles. Much different from nowadays, the command post of the future must prepare an intelligent environment with high-level visualization, natural interaction, multi-person collaboration for commanders.With Multi-modal interaction, users can use different modalities to improve the efficiency of information perception in a three-dimensional naturally-interactive way. In Multi-modal interaction, two-handed interaction is paid special attention because of the advantages in behavior and cognitive psychology. Two-handed interaction can increase the interaction bandwidth and apply users' skills learned in daily life to the interaction with computers, the cognitive burden can be released a lot. If this technology is used in the command post of the future, the efficiency of commanders will be improved very much and the activity of the battle can be easily obtained.The main contributions of this thesis are as follows:1. It has introduced several key technologies of infrared multi-point location and recognition. Based on this technique, the frame and architecture of high-resolution infrared detection will be studied.2. It has studied the method of touch-based two-handed interaction. It has considered people's habits in daily life to define several two-handed natural interactive gestures. The model of the operational state and cognitive process will also be studied.3. We have designed a two-handed touch-based command discussion system, and built the hierarchical structure and module structure of this kind of military application systems. This paper has analyzed the universal hardware and software layers of the system.4. According to the operations of the cases on intelligent interaction command system, we have validated the advantages of this kind of interaction using in browsing and drawing the battlefield situation map. This paper has analyzed the collaboration of commanders supported by the system.
