With high spectrum efficiency, large capacity and immunity for multipath fading, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique is one of key skills in the fourth generation of mobile communication. In this paper, we discuss the basic blocks of OFDM system and its operating principle. This paper attaches importance to the modulation and demodulation algorithms of OFDM and makes certain derives. In the system synchronization aspect, we discuss the effects of the carrier frequency offset, sampling offset and symbol timing offset to the system, and provide several synchronization algorithms. Considering the use of DFT in OFDM system, we also discuss several different FFT algorithms. In the end, certain conclusion is proved applicable by the result of MATLAB software simulation.
