Agent-oriented software engineering is recognized as a novel methodology for complex systems. In the past years, many agent-oriented methodologies have been presented. However, existing agent-oriented methodologies have many drawbacks. For example, they can not effectively deal with the dynamic and adaptive properties of complex systems, provide few language facilities to model and analyze the environment of complex systems, and lack of software tootls to support the methodologies. In this thesis, we present an agent-oriented methodology called ODAM for adaptive complex systems. ODAM is based on dynamic binding mechanism and borrows the concepts from organization discipline to support the high-level abstraction and natural modeling, to manage and control the complexity. ODAM methodology also integrates the iteration development and model-driven development. The thesis introduces the ODAM methodology and CASE software tools ODAMTools, especially the organization scenario modeling and analysis. ODAMTools consists of two parts: visual modeling tool and model checking tool. The thesis introduces the model checking rules, design and implementation technologies. A case is studied to illustrate our approach.
