With the development of Communication Technology and Electronic Technology, especially with the large requirement of Internet and multimedia communication, network communications technology focused on wideband communication network and wireless communication area. GPRS connect wideband with wireless communication network. It is widely applied in remote monitoring, internet development and mobile management.Based on the power system of automatic meter reading background, the thesis start with the development of automatic meter reading technology, systematically expounded the GPRS network architecture and the development of the embedded operating system. With the comparison of communication medium, a method of GPRS technology and embedded system combined design is presented. This scheme utilizes GPRS functionality of Internet access and Anti-jamming characteristic of embedded system, achieving the reliable communication between GPRS data terminals and processing center.Accoding to the given scheme, implementation of the hardware and software technology has conducted in-depth study.The main completed works include two parts. On one hand is the hardware implementation of data terminal, including the hardware module design, selection, circuit boards, such as mapping and debugging. On the other hand, functional modules of the software design, consist of PC interface, displayand control, GPRS data transmission andμC/OS-ⅡEmbedded system.Two ways are presented for GPRS data transmission: TCP and UDP. In the end reliability of the two ways are compared and an optimal parameter is proposed.
