With the increasing of network, the scale of Internet is expended promptly and we have higher and higher request to the network performance. Internet is divided into many autonomous systems that interact to network management, exchanging routing information by border gateway protocol. As the core compontment of the Internet, the routing system keeps the control of network IP traffic, and the instability of routing system is the key point to induce poor network performance. Currently, BGP has become the defacto protocol, however, the promption of the stability of network by improving routing protocol is limited. So how to monitor and analyze routing stability effectively can help to detect and eliminate the routing faults which has become more and more important. The monitoring of inter-domain is also the key aspect of network measurement and management.This paper takes the goal of network measurement application and makes comprehensive investigation on routing stability monitoring. The following work has been down:Firstly, we present a method that can detect the BGP misconfiguration effectively which is caused by human errors. It is well-known that accidental BGP configuration errors is an important routing instability causation which can substantially increase the load of router and disrupt Internet connectivity. In this paper, autonomous systems of Internet form specific relationships according to commercial contracts, which constrain communication between ASes, and routing announcements should accord to export rules. It is found that routing announcements of prefixes still exist by analyzing routing table and updates. This method evaluates whether the IA affects routing announcements by applying the inferenced routing export polices, anlyzes the influence of selective routing and focuses on detection of misconfiguration by estimating routing announcement errors. So it can improve the rate of accuracy of misconfiguration detection.Secondly, in order to reflect the routing status of inter-domain, we present a system of routing monitoring parameter. Currently most methods and tools of monitoring inter-domain routing stability available is from macroscopical and the parameters are simple. Some of the metrics only count the number of updates which can not offer particular information for eliminating routing faults. The system of general routing parameters and method can reflect the status of local and macrocosm in real time based on tuple of (peer, prefix) and prefix by analyzing routing updates, and the relevance of metrics is more close.Lastly, we design and develop a tool for monitoring status of inter-domain routing. The tool is made up of two sub-modules: detection of inter-domain routing misconfiguration and metrics of inter-domain stability monitoring based on the research of the former chapter. Through the practice, we have found the tool can meet the requirements better. It is easy to deploy, flexible to implement, and it can reflect the real status by applying the data collected from practice routing enviroment.
