As the Internet and the e-commerce become more popular, more and more enterprises recognize that the best way to realize economic globalization is to develop the Internet-based business applications. Because business activities have become common, more and more enterprises attach importance to the level of network transmission efficiency. As each communication needs three-handshakes between each client and server, the TCP/IP protocol is unsatisfactory on the WAN, even on the high-speed WAN. TCP protocol does not have the performance satisfactory. Therefore, different from the past way by increasing network bandwidth to improve the efficiency of the WAN, the demand for the technology of gateway to accelerate has become increasingly strong.This paper is the concentration of "VPN accelerate gateway system" project, which aims to research and develop the accelerate gateway system products. This paper discussed the technical details and classification of the existing network accelerate system, gave a brief view of the relevant design of TCP/IP protocol on the connection and transformation, and analyzed the limitation of the existing TCP/IP protocol on the WAN transmission. Based on the market demand, this paper discussed how the accelerate gateway system can make fast TCP connection and ensure the reliability of its connection. The framework of whole system is designed in detail and is implemented, including how to make the three handshakes, how to save the link records, how to make the same TCP packets, how to change the checksum of the TCP packet, how to control the packet send time etc. Meanwhile, we discussed the work details of the various packet loss circumstances. The actual environment is simulated as much as possible, and each aspect of the system is tested, including the serviceability and performance.Comparing with the traditional TCP/IP protocol network, the accelerate gateway with agent-based response mechanism use the agent in the client LAN system establish a connection and at the same time to maintain the TCP transmission protocol semantic unchanged, resolved the problem of that each TCP connection requires three-handshakes in the WAN which wasted lots of time for the large number of communication in practical application.
