Immune genetic algorithm can search globally and find the best antibody rapidly. It can be used in many combinatorial optimization problems. An improved immune genetic algorithm is introduced in this paper. First, several colonies are defined and operate respectively in the evolution so that both the depth and the extent of the search can be assured; second, the parameters of the antibody can be determined adaptively according to the fitness in order that the most appropriate parameter can be used; third, the genome of a antibody can be divided into tow groups to make sure the operation in the algorithm can be carried out. Then a new multi-colony adaptive immune genetic algorithm is bringed into this paper and used to the process of the optimization design of the 220KV transformer, the result shows the good performance and the supportability for the optimization design of the transformer of the algorithm.
