The Meta Search Engine Research On Topic Distillation Algorithms

Search engines are main tools for users to locate information on Internet. If wish to get relatively full-scale, accurate search results multi-search engines should be used, so in this background Meta-search engine occurs. The occurrence of the web Search engine overcomes this problem in some degree. Though the Meta-search engine is able to promote the coverage of the searching scope, the sort information of the web pages is very limited. So a post-processing operation, named topic distillation, is needed before the search results are returned to the user. The classical algorithm, HITS, is likely to converge at an irrelevant tightly knit community(TKC) ,thus lead to topic drift .This paper presents an improved algorithm. The algorithm is based on user's confidence on target search engines. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the new algorithm can avoid topic drift and identify more reasonable and meaningful authorities and hubs on the topic.
