WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) is composed of a large number of small, resource-restrained sensor nodes with certain computing and wireless communication abilities. Because of its low-cost and low power consumption features WSN has fairly extensive application prospects in many fields and becomes a research hotspot of information technology in recent years.Because the operating system on WSN is the development basis of WSN applications, its performance directly affects system performance. So the research of the WSN operating system is very necessary. TinyOS developed by UC Berkeley is the standard of the WSN operating system now. TinyOS is widely applicable to WSN and becomes the design reference of many WSN systems because of its advantages such as modular components and low power consumption.Freescale, which is one of famous companies, has launched the solution for WSN made up of the HCS08 instruction set MCU and the MC1319x series transceiver. Up to now, no operating system on that solution has been developed. So it is very meaningful to apply improved TinyOS to that solution.Firstly, the dissertation analyzes design rules and design ideas of the WSN operating system, compares several typical operating systems and researches modular programming language NesC. Then, the dissertation deeply researches TinyOS and analyzes the design features of TinyOS such as the structure, schedule mechanism, event-driven mechanism which are well suited to WSN. After that, the dissertation designs some improvements on TinyOS and designs improved TinyOS model, TinyOS-hcs08, on the Freescale's WSN solution which consist of MC9S08GT60 MCU and MC13192 transceiver.The work done by this dissertation can provide a reference solution for related research projects or applications in related fields.
