Analyzing The "Tiger Talk" Of Phoenix TV

"Tiger Talk" is a new TV talk show which was opened in January,2006 in Phoenix TV, and it has become very popular among the audience in only one year's time. Compared to the bad situation of the TV talk show in the Mainland of China, its success is worth our research. And its success also shows that TV talk show is not going towards a dead ending, what's more, it is able to make greater progress. This thesis is going to analyze this TV program comprehensively from different aspect, such as Journalism, Mass Communication, Culturology and Sociology. To sum up the good experience of "Tiger Talk" through comparison with the same kind of TV Talk Shows in Mainland of China, and the author hopes that the good experience can help the TV Talk shows of mainland to get rid of its bottleneck and step onto a new way. This paper includes the following five parts: The first part, Introduction. Explain the purpose of writing this thesis, introduce the present condition of research on TV talk show both at home and abroad; introduce the main research methods in this thesis briefly. The second part, analyze the composing factors in "Tiger Talk". Since "Tiger Talk" is a new TV program, it's necessary to analyze its factors and their functions in the beginning of the paper. The third part, cultural analyzing. "Tiger Talk"was born in Phoenix TV which is famous for its humanism, its most obvious character is "forming a true talk space in the TV program", and it shows that "Tiger Talk" values the right of talking and learning the truth of the masses. What's more, this TV talk show has paid special attention to the changing of mass culture and elite culture in the whole TV culture, and pays close attention to both. The fourth part, analyze by using mass communication theory. We can find certain theoretical reasons when one gets success, the success of "Tiger Talk" also has its theoretical origin, so we can use several theory in mass communication to explain its success. The last part, comparison. Choose a typical TV talk show in mainland to compare with "Tiger Talk" and analyze their differences in the formation, TV station, effect, etc, sum up a new developing direction of TV talk shows in mainland of China...
