As a very important basic equipment, PLC is called one of the three majorpillars in automation industry. PLC plays very more and more important role inthe field of industry manufacture. Foreign PLC has held the Chinese market forall these years, which is unacceptable. Chinese study on PLC should not only keepin the state of digestion of foreign technology. The development of embeddedsystem and high performance micro controller make it possible for us to overtakeforeign PLC researchers. This paper's main work is to design a new type PLC,which is based on embedded system.In this paper, the author firstly investigates the principle of PLC basedon realizing S7-200 series PLC running system and then puts forward the designand reality proposal of PLC system. There are three main parts:①hardware systemdesign,②programming software on host computer,③design and realization of PLCworking system, which realized interpretation and execution of PLC instructionson high performance microcontroller LPC2294,④the realization scheme for PLCto communication on CAN-BUS. For the second part, the author adopts STEP7 MicroWinv4.0, which was developed and used by SIEMENS. This paper mainly elaborates howto realize the other 3 parts.The whole system designed by the author is just a rudiment of the mini-typePLC, so there are much work to do to apply this PLC in practice. And this paperhas offered beneficial attempts for the development of homeland PLC.
