Conclusion of the Chongqing Natural Foundation Research Project on Theories and Techniques for Fractional-order Control Systems (No.CSTC2004BB2165) was drawn in this paper. It's mainly focused on classic control research field, such as extended frequency domain analysis or synthesis for fractional systems, extended frequency domain fractional controller design and space locus method for fractional systems. In addition, research prospect on modern control and advanced control for fractional systems was made in the last chapter. It is proposed to start from optimal state space model to the directions of fractional system identification, self-adaptive control for fractional systems, fractional neural control, self-study control and self-organizing structure for fractional systems, shows the bright future for the research and applications.Meanwhile, this paper systematically summarized the present fractional-order control theory results distributed mostly in such aspects as continuous and discrete time domain analysis, approximated numerical analysis, common frequency domain analysis, plane locus method based on variable transposition, etc, and became an effective foundation of forming a complete control and system theory for fractional-order control systems.
