The Research Of Detection And Recognition Of The Vehicle License Plate Image

ITS (intelligent transportation systems) is progressing rapidly in recent years in China. At the same time, as the information collection method for ITS, the vehicle plate recognition technology has also developed very fast. License Plate Recognition System is researched in the paper, According to the system function, the whole system can be divided into four parts, namely the image capture module,the license plate detection module,the character segmentation module and the character recognition module. Firstly, The gray video image will be done A/D transform through the image capture module, then digital gray image can be gained; then the license plate position will be determined through the license plate detection module; the license plate image can be segmented several characters through the character segmentation module, the single character image will be recognized respectively, finally the recognition result of the license plate will be obtained. The experimental results show that the method has many practical application values.
