The constant tension control of Hot Dip Galvanizing Product Line is the key ofkeeping the product line run with high quality continuously.The paper mainly studies and searches for the best control way of the constanttension. Firstly in terms of tension control requirement of hot dip galvanizing productline, roll section, looper section and furnace section are analyzed in order to set up themathematics models, as well as gains the corresponding mechanics equations forthese models. Base on these equations, analyze and discover the reasons that cause theoscillation in tension curve for the product line. According to the result of analysis,expound the tradition ways of tension compensation and decrease such as dynamictorque compensation, unloaded torque compensation, winding dynamic compensationand friction torque compensation etc for above the three tension sections. Thearithmetic of tension control has been investigated, the main target is importing thefuzzy PID adaptive arithmetic into the coil and furnace tension physics parameterscontrol systems in order to having the good flexibility and stability whatever thedifferent specification materials. This paper functions the simulink from MATLAB tobuild up the model of tension control systems with fuzzy adaptive parametersself-tuning PID algorithm. The simulation results clearly shows the positive affectionof the self-tuning algorithm which can shorten the system adjust time, reduceovershoot and promote the ability of anti-jamming and be fit for application in theengineering. Finally, program the whole line's tension control software with SiemensSTEP7.There are some common of the roll tension and furnace tension controlsubsystems. And the two subsystems have used in the Guangdong ZhongShangdegrees product line, ZheJiang XieHe Continual hot-dip aluminium zinc siliconproduct line and LiaoNing YingKou PangPang Contimual hot dip galvanizingproduct line. The new tension control method has been experimented, the result ofwhich shows that fuzzy self: adaptive PID dramatically improves the control performance in the course of tension control, while at the same time the tensionsystem has already met the acquirement of customer.
