The same object gotten from different sensors can be registered spatially by image fusion. The information advantages or the complements of all the image data can be combined to produce new image data using some fusion algorithms. The new data can describe the optimized information of the studied object. Compared with single information source, the new data can reduce or restrain the ambiguity, the incompleteness, the uncertainty and the error, which may appears in the explanation of the studied object or the environment, and make full use of the information provided by all kinds of resources.In this paper, evolution algorithms about image fusion are studied based on the pixel level, and a new image fusion method-- QPSO(Quantum-Behaved Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm is proposed. With the analysis of the GA(Genetic Algorithm) and PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm in this paper, the performance of the three algorithms- GA, PSO and QPSO are compared, the possibility of the use of QPSO in image fusion is studied. To solve the problems appearing in the image fusion while using GA and PSO, the QPSO algorithm is used to optimize the fusion process. The performance of the above three algorithms is compared according to the emulation and the fusion assessment methods, such as the variance,information entropy,cross entropy,chopping information capacity and so on. It is shown that QPSO is useful and of great advantage in the fusion field. In this paper, QPSO is applied to the image process field by remote sensing and is combined with the HIS transform method that is usually used in remote sensing field to optimize the fusion process by QPSO. The effect of image fusion is greatly improved and the deficiency of single HIS method is obviously ameliorated when the QPSO is combined with HIS method. The optimization function of the QPSO is very obvious. In this paper, the QPSO with HIS method is compared with the GA with HIS method. The emulation experiment result shows that the content of fused image information is improved and the fusion effect is greatly improved by using QPSO with HIS method...
