Research On The Framework Of MDA And The Connotations Of Model Transformation

It has been a long time since Model Driven Architecture was proposed by Object Management Group in 2001. OMG has been devoted on the revise of MDA-concerned standards, and many companies and open-source organizations began to implement MDA. So MDA is growing from pure theory to practice.Currently, the MDA tools can only support a step or some steps of the development of MDA. Moreover, there is no IDE that support the development visually. Because of these reasons, the developers of MDA should be familiar with several tools and make them cooperatively during the development of MDA system. In order to resolve these problems, this paper does a research on the framework of MDA, and presents a deep analysis on the module of model transformation.Firstly, this paper introduces some basic concepts of MDA, summarizes the current state of the use of MDA tools, and analyzes the concepts of the design of some popular MDA tools.Secondly, this paper analyzes the defects of some frameworks of MDA and then discusses some principles of a framework of MDA. By using the extension mechanism of eclipse, this paper proposes an extensible framework of MDA.Thirdly, this paper has a deep research focus on a main module of MDA—model transformation. It discusses the three important characteristics of model transformation and educes two connotations of transformation. And then it presents a transformation meta-model and a way to implement loosely coupled traceability.Finally, this paper gives an example of developing a system by using the framework discussed above, and shows the usability of the framework.
