The Research And Implementation Of Views Self-Maintenance Methods On The Data Warehousing

The materialized view maintenance is a very important work in the data warehouse. Wealways encounter with network blocking when views maintaining. Therefore, it is critical tominimize the necessary communication of materialized view maintenance to achieve rapid andaccurate view maintenance. Self-maintenance with auxiliary views, needn't access the datasource, storage of the extra information to maintenance the materialized view is the lowest,.And it reduces the communication costs of view maintenance effectively.We encountered with many new challenges, during putting the self-maintenace withauxiliary views into our data warehouse application system. That is one of the necessaryconditions for generating the auxiliary views of which we can't get the primary key and foreignkey informations from the similar base relations in the definition of the materialized viewsdirectly. This makes the bottleneck of the Self-maintenace of materialized views with Auxiliaryviews.In this paper, we used function dependency to induce the primary key and foreign key ofthe similar base relation.Also, we discussed the conditions of the view maintenance, the process of theself-maintenance with auxiliary views and summarized the definition of the auxiliary views.We have accomplished following work: firstly, under the definition of the MaterializedViews, we made the lexical analysis to get what we need; secondly, according to the definition ofMaterialized Views, primary key and foreign key of the similar base relations,we generated thecorresponding Auxilary Views; thirdly, we realized the net effect under cycle queue to simplifythe operation flow in order to reduce the storage space and operating cost as soon aspossible.Finally, we realized the Self-maintenance via the auxiliary views and changes of thebase relations.
