This paper introduces immune concepts to temperature control in biological fermentation process and explores the control applications of immune system from an information processing mechanism. The main contents of the paper are as follows:1. Subject introductionThis chapter analyses the characters of biological fermentation process, and mainly introduces the reseasons of the bad temperature control performance in biological fermentation process. It also introduces the immune nomenclatures, functions, structures and summarizes the applications of artificial immune engineering in control fields.2. Immune PID controllerThis chapter provides a new immune PID controller based on regulation action of biological immune feedback response. Combined with conventional PID controller, the immune PID controller is established. It discusses the parameter effects of immune PID controller, designs system performance indexes to measure the system performance, and compares the advantages and disadvantages of the control algorithm in details.The immune PID controller exhibits a fast response speed with on overshot. The research results obtained from the temperature control system with parameters changing and perturbations demonstrate the effectiveness of the immune PID controller, which can meet the requirements of fast response speed and enough stability.3. Temperature control systemThis chapter analyses the system structure of FG-3000 control system, also introduces the structure and control scheme of temperature control system in details. According to steps response data, the process model is defined as first-order integral and time lag process.4. Temperature control of biogical fermentation process with immune algorithmBased on the beer fermentation process, craft curve, craft control and automatic control actuality of beer control process at home, the characters of beer fermentation control algorithm are analysed, and the immune PID-PI controller is provided. Researches indicate that the controller can meet the rigid requirements on temperature and it is beter than conventional PID control algorithm in response speed and overshot.
