The crystal oscillator shell is mainly used to screen the crystal oscillator from the interfering of electromagnetic wave. So, weather the crystal oscillator can work normally as the circuit clock source depends on the surface quality of the crystal oscillator shell to large extent. In this paper, the vision spot-inspection system is developed based on combining illumination, pneumatic control and image processing. This system can inspect the shell by coopernating with the punch, and estimate the mould state indirectly by the surface quality. It reduce the human resource and production cost and improved the efficiency and the automation degree with its characteristics of high precision, non-contact and no people on-line. This paper introduces the principle, current research situation and development trend of the vision inspection, puts forward the overall design schema of the inspection system according to the typical features of the crystal oscillator shell and carries out the thorough researches in the following aspects:(1). According to the characteristics of the the crystal oscillator shell and the aim of the whole vision system, the author not only designs an appropriate set of image-capturing module but also focuses on the analysis of the choice of the light source and the design of the ways of illumination.(2). On the basis of the existing the mechanical hardware platform, the peripheral mechanical electronic control module of the vision inspection system, with PCI-16P16R as its control core, is devised whose primary function is to assist the image-capturing module and image-processing module in pitching the crystal oscillator shell into the CCD visual field.(3). Basing on the technique of digital image process, the author reaches the inspection method of the weaknesses in the side surface of the crystal oscillator shell by employing the combination method of Euler number and binary area, and the image information entropy arithmetics. The experiment result shows the rationality and validity of the two inspection arithmetics.(4). A set of vision spot-inspection system software is developed with the adoption of VC++IDE of the Microsoft corporation; according to the layout module, such set of software consists of five parts, namely, main module, peripheral mechanical electronic control module, image-capturing module, image-processing module and communication module.At last, the author reaches the overall conclusion and declares his own opinions about the future of this vision inspection system.
