A Study Of Indoor Location Based On Bluetooth Technologies

As a new kind of technology for short range wireless communication, Bluetooth aims to replace the cables between the information equipments with radio wave and establish a personal area network for them to communicate with each other. This paper is concentrated on the study of indoor location based on Bluetooth technologies. First, the history and features of Bluetooth are introduced. Then the protocols of Bluetooth are discussed with emphasis on Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol,RFCOMM protocol. This paper gives how to build the Bluetooth indoor location system with the company CSR(Cambridge Silicon Radio)'s BlueCore4 chip. And this paper is introduced to design the program of access point with Serial Port Profile(SPP).The range estimation of the positioning system is based on an approximation of the relation between the RSSI (Radio Signal Strength Indicator) and the associated distance between transmitter and receiver. With the study of indoor propagation loss model, the paper is described the relation between Radio Signal Strength and distance between transmitter and receiver, and the influence of the environment of the room. Finally, given the position estimation based on signal strengths using LSE (least squares estimation), then the error and optimize the error is discussed.
