Manufacturing is the foundation of national economic development, along with which the society is in greater and greater demand for diversification of products. Meanwhile, product upgrading cycle is becoming shorter and shorter, which puts forward a much higher requirement for the manufacturing equipment. The production of development of computerized numerical control system (CNC SYSTEM) is closely connected with the development of computer technology. One of the hot issues of research on CNC technology is, under the personal computer operation system, to construct a CNC system with good openness to hardware and software.WINDOWS operation system (OS) is the mainstream operation system on personal computers. It possesses the characteristics of open architecture, easy operation and integrated exploiting environment. Inevitably, it is a trend to develop a WINDOWS-based CNC system. This thesis researches a PC-based open CNC system which runs under the WINDOW 2000 OS. In other words, it is to research the open architecture of a CNC system and to use the universal hardware and software to make a CNC system a universal controller which operates the general machine tools, the specialized machines tools and other machines as well. The outline of the thesis is illustrated as follows:1. Researching the real-time control of a WINDOWS-based CNC system and discussing the principles of WDM technology in details.2. Analyzing the multi-task characters of a CNC system under the WINDOWS environment and bringing forward the method of adopting a multi-tread technology to solve parallel multi-task scheduling under a CNC system.3. Applying WDM and multi-threads to construct an experimental CNC system with the kernel of GT400-SV motion control card under the WINDOW 2000 environment, to develop upper applications and to design a friendly user interface.Judged from the actual operation results, the system constructed under the GT-400-SV Motion Control Card can meet the need of processing different kinds of hole-drilling, which is of practical value. The whole debugging results indicate that the control system of CN drilling machine proves to be satisfactory in all aspects. The results, concluded by debugging all the control functions, including open, load, edit, select, copy, cut, and paste, show that the system can achieve all kinds of control functions in actual processing, which includes the edit and interpolation of the processing files, together with drill-compensation and other functions. The results of hardware debugging show that the control system can accurately control various processing movements in the course of processing, which meets the processing requirements. Under the condition of linking the power of servo motor, the processing results show that the CN drilling system with full speed operation can guarantee the processing error provided that parameters of the system are well adjusted. Therefore, the system under current research successfully fulfills processing demands in real applications.
