The paper, firstly, gives a survey of the development and current situation of the measuring technology of surface roughness at the state and overseas. Secondly, we introduced the theory of laser speckle, the processing technology of digital image and the theory of surface roughness. With the samples of surface roughness made in WeiFang, the experiment obtains speckle images of samples with different crafts and different surface roughness. We analyze and process the speckle images with gray level co-occurrence matrix, study gradation histogram of the speckle images of samples with different crafts and different surface roughness,compute the texture parameters I , E , H ,C (moment of the inertia, angle second moment, entropy and correlation) of speckle images, draw the relation curves of the parameters and arithmetical deviation of the profile( Ra ). I and H become bigger and bigger when surface roughness becomes big. E and C become smaller and smaller when surface roughness becomes big. The objects with different crafts are made. We study the texture parameters I , E , H ,C of the speckle images of different surface roughness objects. Using the texture parameters of the speckle images of samples of surface roughness, we gain the object's surface roughness using linear interpolation..The paper gives a method of studying the surface roughness with the texture parameters. It is valuable to nondestructive measuring surface roughness.
