With the rapid development of the Intemet, the number of Internet users has grown at high rate. On one hand, with the constant development of computer multimedia technology, the traditional Intemet businesses have become embarrassed to meet people's needs gradually. It is hoped that the Internet can provide more and better services. On the other hand, with the constant lowering of the price of traditional Intemet businesses, the profit from them becomes less and less. Service Providers eager to exploit new broadband businesses and get new profit. At present, Intemet-based integrated data, voice, image and other multimediaintegrated services have emerged. For example, the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), video conferencing, video telephone and other services have got a certain degree of development. With the development of new businesses, the disadvantage of the Intemet based on IP technology has gradually exposed. In its early age, IP network is only to transfer simple data, it is based on no connection-oriented data transmission and supports only Best-Effort services and has no QoS (Quality of Service: QoS) assurances. This makes the delay unpredictable and the network bandwidth can not be guaranteed for the transmission of multimedia data, such as voice and image. It can not meet the demand of multimedia applications in network transmission quality. It becomes a huge obstacle to the development of broadband integrated services network that IP networks can not guarantee the QoS requirements of the specific business. It is unrealistic to solve the QoS problem simply relying on the increasing bandwidth, since the demand of application in bandwidth will never be ending. It will likely be exhausted no matter how much the network bandwidth is.IPTV is a new kind of video business. This paper mainly deals with its QoS scheme and simulation. First, the definition of QoS and two service models (integrated services and differentiated services) are discussed. Then the background of MPLS (Multi-protocol Label Switching), its principles, and its system architecture are introduced, especially the MPLS DiffServ model. Next, the introduction of the IPTV is specially given and its QoS is researched. For the network QoS problem when the IPTV business coexists with traditional Internet businesses, the solution based on the DifferServ model in MPLS network is presented. Finally, the corresponding simulation analysis is carried on by OPNET software. It proves that the problem of the coexistence between the IPTV business and traditional Internet businesses can be solved to a certain extent. It can improve the QoS of the IPTV system and makes the system work normally with little impact on the traditional businesses.
