With the wide application of image technology in every field of society, more and more experts and scholars are researching the technology and application of image processing. Image segmentation and deformation is also an important research content of image processing, their technology can be applied to image recognition, industrial design, cartoon design, generation of virtual scene. Image processing is an application-oriented subject and most of its theories and technologies are closely related to practice. There are almost no general theories and technologies of image processing, so does Image segmentation and deformation. Image segmentation includes coarse segmentation and fine segmentation. Image deformation includes full deformation and local deformation. It is a basic research in image processing and analysis and is also a problem which isn't complete solved. Therefore, the research of Image segmentation and deformation is an important and significant work. Research on the technology of segmentation and deformation for practice can not only solve the problem, but also enrich the technology of image processing.In this paper, we research and analyze the current segmentation and deformation technology. The main work in the thesis is as follows three facets:(1) A method of shape segmentation to binary image based on concave comers and shape skeleton is proposed in this paper. It combines the two methods, distills cancave comers and skeleton's embranchments to segmentation, through shear the length of skeleton's embranchment to delete noise jamming and control the size and number of intersected area. It adequently applied the advantage of two methods, increased the efficiency and processing precision of segmentation algorithm, and attained better result.(2) Axial deformation is one of free-form deformation (FFD). In front of basically maintaining image's shape characters, Image deformation method which can be based on users desired has been researched. It is an deformation algorithm based on free axial. First, user brains two curves (referenced curve and target curve), Then, through constitutes the mapping of two axials, and respectively constructs reference frame with control point on those curve according to shortcut principle, we make certain the position of new image pixel, so implement the deformation of image. This algorithm is effective and credible to the deformation of binary image.(3) The design and implementation of paper cut-out system based on segmentation and deformation. Paper cut-out is a traditional folk art with a long history in China. In chapter 4, we research how to recognize the decorative pattern from the paper cut-out image and plan to build a paper cut-out system based on segmentation and deformation. For the paper cut-out image acquired by scanning the books, we propose a method to recognize the decorative pattern and attain the goal of converting image into graphic. After parting and deforming the paper cut-out graphic, we get a new paper cut-out graphic and implement the anew design of paper cut-out image.The algorithms proposed in this paper have been analyzed in theory and verified by experiments. Images used in experiments are selected from practice and the paper cut-out images are acquired by scanning the books. The results show that:(1) We applied the shape segmentation algorithm of binary image to paper cut-out images.it can effectively partition image to some little areas according to the demand of later processing, and constitutes credible basic to increase the efficiency of later processing and optimize the result.(2) The binary image deformation algorithm based on free axial has been implemented, the orperation is simple and convenient, the interaction is improved, the computation is small and the speed is fast. The deformation result is good at gain users ends in a paper cut-out image.(3) The segmentation and deformation method can effectively make anew design in paper cut-out image. The paper cut-out created based segmentation and deformation system is convenient. It can quickly produce the new image or new pose using old paper cut-out image, and provide material to cartoon-making.
