Along with the rapid development of computer technology and communication, the demands in industry are more and more urgent that the direct connection between lower device and Internet/Intranet, the realization of the remote monitoring for the lower device. But many traditional industry monitoring equipments constitute lightweight networks based on correspondence connection such as the RS-485, RS-232, CAN-BUS. Those equipments cannot directly connect with the Internet/Intranet. Therefore it is significant using the embedded technology to design high performance-to-price industry gateway to realize the network interconnection and the remote monitoring.The industry Ethernet gateway designs two groupings by the hardware design and the software design. The hardware system core has chosen Samsung Corporation's S3C2410 processor. Then designed the hardware module based on the nuclear core of BoChuang Company. The paper has analyzed the important components such as the processor, the memory and the network controller. The software system has transplanted the Linux operating system, has analyzed the system essence, has optimized the network module based on the application, has designed the system Web test page, has integrated the serial port communication protocol. The paper first introduced related knowledge of the embedded gateway system, the embedded system as well as the ARM architecture. Then discussed the system hardware circuit design in detail and debugged the unit electric circuit. Then, the paper outlined elementary knowledge of this Linux operating system and discussed transplant into this embedded system. The transplant included essence revision, reduction and translation as well as Bootloader principle. Then the paper designed programs including system driver, Web server realization, serial port communication protocol transplant and so on. Finally the paper designed system configuration files in view of the gateway system and got the debugging result in the laboratory.The experimental result indicated that, this design has completed the basic request function. These works are original such as optimizing the network module based on the application, integrating the serial port communication protocol.
