Satellite navigation positioning system is widely used in Client parts of GPS microprocessor in the receiver. The vehicle GPS navigation system is more and more noticed ,since the number of the vehicle is increasing. System mainly consist of types of every walk of life. The GPS receiver directly decides the whole of the performance of the receiver.This thesis introduces the design of an ARM-based GPS receiver. The process of developing firmware for this receiver is also mentioned. For the GPS receiver,the ATR0600 is a small format Front-end and the ATR0620 with an ARM7 Microprocessor is a complete digitalbaseb and processor and the AT91SAM9261 as the nuclear circuit of the receiver. The thesis introduces the implementation of Windows CE 5.0,and the basic method of data traffic in GPS system.This thesis describes the features of GPS and then discusses the design princeple of GPS receiver. Compared to others, ARM has some special features, such as low-power, high-performance. The thesis introduces this and then describes the design and implementation of an ARM-based GPS receiver using AT91SAM9261. The author successfully designed the schematics and PCBLayout of the version 1.0. experienced the process of hardware debugging, taken part in the design in version 2.0 and software testing and modification.
