Pipelins have become the main transportation mode of oil and gas. With the rapid development of gas industry in our country, the leakage of pipelines caused by varied reasons has become a serious problem which could be result in terrible social consequence.The technology of detection and location of oil pipelines leak has improved a lot. However, it is more difficult in gas pipelines because of the character of gas transportation. Therefore, it is meaningful theoretically and valuable practically to research the technology of detection and location of leakage in gas pipelines.On the basis of detailed analysis of the method of leakage detection and location in gas pipelines, this paper describes a new method for detecting and locating leaks in gas pipelines based on hybrid model. Models are established based on the mechanism of gas in pipelines when there is a leak or not. In order to improve the accuracy of the models, a black-box model is presented based on RBFNN. The time-varying parameters which effect the gas pipelines are the input variable of the ANN, and the error of the mechanism model is the output of the ANN. The ANN model has the on-line study ability. Thus, a hybrid model is established which combine the white-box model and black-box model together. The hybrid model can improve the accuracy of the mechanism model. At last, this paper discuss the method of detecting leakage in gas pipelines based on the Lyapunov stability theory. According to the analysis of the eigenvalues, we can estimate the scale and the location of the leak.Experiment research shows that reliability of the pipeline state space model ,and the hybrid model is helpful to improve the accuracy of gas pipeline model, and prove the feasibility of the method of detecting and locating leakage based on Lypunov stability thoery.
