The grid resource discovery technology stands as a bridge between resource requester and resource provider. Only with the help of scheme of resource discovery can requesters reach the resources of the grid conveniently. Otherwise, requesters have difficulties in finding Proper grid resources, even though there are abundant resources.There are many kinds of dynamic resources available in grid computing environment. The resource is distributed, heterogeneous and could join or leave different virtual organizations dynamically. So how to find grid resources, how to monitor the status of grid resources, how to take advantage of them by grid application is the problem which must be solved. Grid resources management is the core problem of grid computing at present, so a kind of grid management model of reasonable and availability is very important in grid environment.Firstly, the grid is described briefly in this thesis, such as the characters and structure of grid, the characters of grid resource and the models of resource management, the advantages and disadvantages of central and distributed scheme are presented. Then, this thesis proposes a method of grid resource discovery based on hierarchical model by combining the centralized scheme with distributed one. The resources are divided into three levels such as physical network layer, agora layer, and management layer in the model. Moreover, The thesis designs an algorithm of the grid resource discovery based on hierarchical model, The test results show that query times to super node are reduced by introducing the local theory. Virtual agora based on classification are organized and queries for resource are performed only in given agora, by which the search space can be reduced and the efficiency of resource discovery can be improved evidently. at the same time ,the shortcoming of traditional method of resource discovery include server lose efficiency and Bottleneck of the network can be overcome. At last the agora layer in the hierarchical model is designed and the interface prototype is realized.
