Design Of A Network Management System Based On SNMP

Network management system is a distributed network application system which includes software and hardware, the object of it is to manage the network and make the network more effective. Network management is in essence to reduce network malfunction and make the operation systems and application systems run smoothly on it. It's a necessity result that network management's appearance along with computer network's evolution. The development of network management technology is pivotal to computer network's evolution, for the reason that a network's running quality will be effected by whether the network management's quality is good or not.This paper analyzes from network management's principle and structure, introduces network management's definition and fundamental, and then introduces its structure model. Educes its design rules and design objective by analyzes network management system's constitution and system structure, and then introduces its way of implement. According to these design rules, objective and way of implement, then by introducing the five primary functions' management process, method and rules of network management, presents the five primary functions' design strategy and way of implement in detail.The paper parses the SNMP protocol and introduces the way of processing, date type and primary operation, then explains how to extend a MIB by instance.Furthermore, the paper presents the agent's way of implement and design rules by explaining host computer SNMP agent communication module and host computer SNMP agent control module's way of implement. Then introduces a third part software packet NET-SNMP's way of compiling, using and MIB's compiling method, explains how to implement an agent by instance again.At last, the paper forecasts network management's developing trend.
